Wasim Akram is one of the greatest cricketers in the history of cricket. Akram is a left-arm fast bowler and a left-handed batsman. He is holder of various records. Akram started his ODI career in 1984. Akram is the highest wicket taker of the world with 502 wickets in 356 matches. He has bagged the wickets at an average of 23.52. The best bowling figure of Akram is 5 wickets for 15 runs. On 17 occasions, he has taken 4 wickets in an innings. Akram has taken 5 wickets on 6 occasions. In his ODI career, Akram has scored 3717 runs at an average with the highest of 86 runs. Ha has also taken 88 catches as a fielder. Akram was chosen the Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1993. This great cricketer ended his ODI career in 2003.


Wasim Akram has played in the World Cup on five occasions in 1987, 1992, 1996, 1999 and 2003. Akram has played the maximum number of matches (38 matches) at the World Cup. He has captained the Pakistani team in 15 World Cup matches. In the 38 matches, Akram has scored only 426 runs, 43 being his highest score. Akram is also the highest wicket taker in the World Cup.
