Yawar adamant not to continue as Pak team manager

Thu, Oct 22 08:47 PM

Karachi, Oct 22 (PTI) Pakistan''s long serving manager Yawar Saeed has refused to take back his resignation and continue at his post for the forthcoming tours to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, New Zealand and Australia, despite cricket board chief''s request. Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Ejaz Butt today had a long meeting with Yawar at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore but sources told PTI that Yawar had expressed his inability to continue as manager for the forthcoming tours.

Butt said he would make an announcement about the team management tomorrow as he had spent the day focussing on the selection issues. "Butt is still trying to convince Yawar as they are very close but so far he has not been able to convince his friend to change his mind," a source said.

Yawar had announced before the Champions Trophy he would step down as manager after the tournament. But on returning home he was asked by Butt to continue in the same role until a suitable replacement was found.

"But now Yawar is not keen to accept the post as he is miffed at the fact that captain Younus Khan has held him responsible for the problems in the team when he met with Butt few days back," the source said. .
